What do you look for in a Sylist?

The Story Begins...

My fascination with hair began early-on. As a bi-racial child, the attempts to find a stylist qualified to handle my hair, lead to many trials and tribulations. After spending many years with my father taking me to his barber, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

The Early Years...

I was always into hair. I was one of those little girls who wanted to be "fabulous". Jose Ybarra, during an appearance on Oprah, was my first real inspiration. I remember, as a child, having my mothers hair trapped in curlers, screaming to the world, "Shake Your Hair, Darling!"

The Awakening...

In College, at Grand Valley State University, I spent my time helping my friends get ready for events, dates, dances and even the occasional cotillion. Hair, at this time, was my hobby. Although I didn't warrant the billable rate I make today, I must admit, I had no end of compliments and repeat business. It was here that I realized that cosmetology, not photography, was my passion. I did not want to take pictures of people with gorgeous hair, I wanted to make people with gorgeous hair.

Today...

Hair is not a hobby, it is a science. To truly style hair correctly, there must be an understanding of such concepts as anatomy, chemistry, and geometry. Until now you have had people "guess" at the expense of your hair.

Visit Me.

See what it is like to have someone "know".
